Issue red alert for the accused of Barguna incident: HC to IGP
The High Court has asked to issue red alert at all the police stations so that the killers of Rifat cannot leave the country. The court has asked Inspector General of Police (IGP) to take action in this regard on Thursday. Deputy Attorney General Abdullah Al Mahmud Bashar said before the court, one accused was arrested. Drives are going on to detain others. Each of the accused will be arrested and brought under judicial process. At that time to the representative of state the court said, ask IGP to take action so that the accused cannot cross the border or leave the country. Ask him to issue red alert on border. Earlier the High Court bench comprising Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader expressed anger when reports of different newspapers in connection with the killing were placed before them. At that time the court said, in which way Rifat was hacked to death in an open place but nobody except his wife came to save him. People saw that standing even recorded the moment. It is a failure of our people. People were not like this. Where society has stood? Meanwhile, check posts were set up in different spots to detain the accused of Rifat murder case. In this regard SP of Barguna Maruf Hossain said that check posts were set up in different parts of Barguna. On Wednesday at arounf 10:30 am Nayan and his associates hacked Rifat on Barguna Governemnt College road. He was rushed to Barguna Sadar Hospital at first and later shifted to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital but at around 4 pm Rifat died while undergoing treatment there. AH

So far 70 dead bodies were recovered: IGP
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Javed Patwari said that so far 70 dead bodies were recovered in connection with the incident of fire at Chawkbazar in the capital. The death toll may rise, he also informed. He said these to the newsmen while visiting the spot on Thursday morning. At that time fire service and high officials of police were along with him. Dr. Javed Patwari said, there were chemicals in the chemical warehouse. So the fire spread very fast. Later fire service workers brought the fire under control through their relentless efforts. He said there were some gas-run vehicles in front of the warehouse building. The fire caused burst of the vehicles. There were some gas cylinders in a vehicle might be for supply to the adjacent homes and hotels. Terrible explosion took part in the vehicle. As a result the casualties increased. IGP said, I personally think that there should not be any chemical warehouse in such populated area. It is the time to remove those. Earlier, at around 10:30 pm on Wednesday the fire broke out in a multistoried building near Shahi Mosque at Chawkbazar area in old Dhaka and spread into other nearby buildings. It was known that the fire first broke out in the building named Wahed Mansion. There were chemical warehouse and plastic materials producing shops. The fire spread into Wahid Manjil, Amania Hotel, Raj Hotel and other four residential buildings on the opposite side. Fire Service Deputy Director Debashis Bhattacharya said, the building where first fire broke out is at risk and it may collapse at any moment. Meanwhile, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon and Member of Parliament Hazi Selim reached on the spot after 2 am. Locals said, fire service vehicles rushed to Chawkbazar after the fire broke out. The vehicles could not reach to the spot due to narrow roads in the area. AH

New unit to be formed to prevent rumors: IGP
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Mohammad Javed Patwary said, a new unit is going to be formed to prevent rumors on social media. The unit is nearly at the final stage. We will be able to see the face of this unit after getting finance ministry nod. We also have the adequate manpower. He said these while answering questions to the newsmen at the prize distribution ceremony of Bangladesh police cricket championship (IGP cup) final at APBN field at Uttara in the capital on Saturday.   IGP said, we are preparing ourselves, enhancing capability, sending workforce to abroad for training on tactics and observation. A coordination cell was already formed in the police head quarters to prevent rumors and cyber crimes. It was done to monitor the related cases all time. This cell will monitor the activities of all units. It will inform us so that nobody is able to deteriorate the law and order situation by spreading rumors. Javed Patwary said, some days ago rumors were spread in the garments sector that two-three people died and two were missing. As a result general people were involved in conflict by not understanding anything. For this reason we are alert so that nobody will be able to spread rumors in future. IGP said, cyber crime is a big challenge for law enforcement agencies throughout the world. We are preparing ourselves so that we can monitor cyber crime properly. It’s a big challenge because it cannot be seen in open eyes.      AH
