Jatiya Party Chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad was admitted to hospital following kidney and hemoglobin problem. He was admitted to Critical Care Unit of Combined Military Hospital (CMH) of Dhaka on Wednesday morning. Younger brother of Ershad and Acting Chairman of Jatiya Party GM Kader confirmed the information. He said, recently Ershad returned home after taking treatment from Singapore and was taking further treatment from CMH. But personal officials of Ershad said that he regularly visits CMH for routine checkup. When he feels bad he goes to CMH. Physicians before the eleventh national parliament election informed that hemoglobin production stopped in Ershad’s blood. AH       

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid a visit to Professor Mohammed Zafar Iqbal at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka. During the visit the Prime Minister inquired about his health condition. The premier went to CMH at around 12:20 pm on Monday. Dr. Zaraf Iqbal, Professor of Computer Science and Engineering department of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) came under a knife attack in Sylhet on Saturday afternoon by a young man named Foyzur Rahman. On bleeding condition he was rescued and rushed to Osmani Medical College Hospital. After admitting there a surgery was done on his head. Later following Prime Minister’s direction he was brought Dhaka CMH through an Air Force air ambulance. In a briefing on Sunday the physicians of Dhaka CMH said that there are six knife wounds on the head, back and hand of Professor Zafar Iqbal. He is out of danger at the moment. But he will need several days to recover completely. Meanwhile, after a mass beating the attacker Foyzur Rahman was handed over to police. Later a case was filed with Jalalabad police station accusing Foyzur and several unidentified. SUST Registrar Ishfaqul Hossain filed the case. The case number is 03. AH

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka to see Dr. Mohammad Zafar Iqbal, Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Department at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST). Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said that the Prime Minister is going to visit CMH on Monday around 12:00 pm to see Professor Dr. Mohammad Zafar Iqbal, who was injured in the attack at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in Sylhet. On Saturday afternoon, a young boy named Fayzur Rahman attacked the famous writer with a knife. After rescuing from a bleeding condition, he was rushed to Osmani Medical Hospital in Sylhet and there a surgery was done. Later, at the directive of the Prime Minister, an air ambulance brought him to the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka. Doctors in a briefing on Sunday at Dhaka CMH said that Professor Muhammad Zafar Iqbal had six wounds of knife in the head, back and hand. He is currently out of danger. However, it will take some days to recover completely. FU

The ailing former Member of Parliament Mohammad Yusuf has been taken to Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dhaka on Tuesday for his better treatment. According to the decision of the medical board of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), an ambulance with Intensive Care Unit (ICU) facilities has started towards Dhaka with ailing former MP Yousuf at 4 pm on Tuesday, Chittagong City Corporation Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin and Civil Surgeon Azizur Rahman Siddique told this.  The doctors have been kept Yusuf under observation for last two days and he was taken to Dhaka as his health condition slightly improved, said the Civil Surgeon. The kidney of Mohammad Yusuf is weak and he has some infectious wounds in his body, he added.    City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, Chittagong District Council Chairman M A Salam, Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Zillur Rahman Chowdhury, Civil Surgeon Azizur Rahman Siddique and Director of CMCH Brigadier General Md. Jalal Uddin were present before his departure. Mohammad Yusuf was admitted at the ICU of CMCH on Sunday by the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The premier gave the direction while the news of the former MP’s health and living condition came to her notice through social media The Prime Minister also asked the Chittagong Deputy Commissioner to take necessary steps for his better treatment. Following her directive the government is bearing the expense of his treatment.  He was an elected Member of Parliament from Rangunia constituency in 1991 by defeating the then war criminal and NDP chief late Salauddin Quader Chowdhury.
