Educational institutions to reopen; 10th, 12th graders’ classes at first stage

Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said, if corona situation does not deteriorate then we are considering reopening of schools and colleges from June 13. After opening classes for 10th and 12th grade students will be taken six days a week at the first stage.

The minister was speaking at a virtual press conference on Wednesday afternoon on the issue of ongoing holidays in the educational institutions during corona pandemic situation and overall educational situation.

Dr. Dipu Moni said, we have not taken decision about primary level yet, but classes of 6th graders to 9th graders will be taken one day per week.

About the ongoing closure she said, the holidays have been extended till June 12. Then secondary and higher secondary level educational institutions will be reopened. We have taken all types of preparation. We will be able to take classes after opening the educational institutions.

Mentionable, the first corona patient was detected in the country on March 8 last year and the government declared all the educational institutions closed starting from March 18. As the institutions are closed lesson learning activities are going on using online, radio and television media. Again strict restrictions on people’s movement and overall activities were imposed from April 5. Public transport service was allowed to ply from May 24. In this situation the ongoing holidays for educational institutions were extended till May 29 and it has been extended till June 12 afresh.
