Mild cold wave in December, severe in January to come

The meteorological department has said that with the continuation of decreasing trend of temperature one to two mild cold waves may blow over different regions of the country including the northern region in the month of December. Besides, two to three mild to moderate type cold waves may blow over the country in January. Weather forecast says in January temperature may fall down by 4 to 6 degree Celsius and the cold waves may turn in to severe category.

The information was known through the report sent to concerned government office after holding the meeting presided over by Director of the meteorological directorate and expert committee Chairman Shamsuddin Ahmed.

About December forecast it said, day and night temperature may fall down gradually but average temperature will be normal in this month. One or two mild cold waves (8 to 10 degree Celsius) may occur in the northern and north-eastern part of the country at the end of this month. Mild to moderate fog may appear from early morning to the morning in the riparian areas in December. There may be normal rainfall. One to two depressions may create on the Bay of Bengal in this month which may turn in to cyclone but may not cross over the Bangladesh coastal areas.
