Thousands attend Juma prayers in second round of Bishwa Ijtema

Thousands of devotees have offered Juma prayers in the first day of second round of Bishwa Ijtema on the bank of river Turag at Tongi.

Senior maulana Omar Faruk of Kakrail mosque delivered the sermon in the prayer and hafej maulana Mohammad Jobayer led the prayer. Top senior of Tongi Ijtema Mejbah Uddin Ahmed confirmed the matter.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Haque, Member of Parliament from Gazipur-2 constituency Zahid Ahsan Russell and Gazipur City Corporation Mayor Professor MA Mannan took part in the Juma prayer.

Several lakh devotees from 16 districts including Dhaka-Gazipur and regular Tablig Jamat members said their prayers. Around four thousand devotees from 78 countries including over hundred foreign guests of the first phase took part in the Juma prayers of second phase congregation.

Devotees began to gather in the Ijtema premises to attend the biggest Juma prayers from early in the morning. The Ijtema ground was fulfilled at 12 pm and spread in the adjacent areas.

Many were seen saying their prayers on the roads and streets. At that time plying of vehicles on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway was halted for some times.

Earlier the second phase of 53rd Bishwa Ijtema began with strict security measures and huge preparations. Members of law enforcing agencies took their positions in the Ijtema ground and its adjacent areas.

The Ijtema of the year 2018 will be concluded on 21st January with the Akheri Munajat seeking peace and progress of the country, nation and Muslim ummah.
