New Zealand mosque killing: Dr. Samad’s wife alive

Bangladesh embassy honorary consul Shafiqur Rahman said that wife of slain university teacher Dr. Abdus Samad is alive. Dr. Samad was killed in gruesome gunmen attacks at two mosques in Christchurch of New Zealand on Friday. Earlier the embassy officials said that three Bangladeshis were killed in the attack but later they said that there was a confusion regarding the number of death.

Later on Friday Shafiqur Rahman said that wife of Dr. Abdus Samad is alive and at present is residing in their home in New Zealand. Dr. Samad’s son Tarek informed the embassy about this.

Shafiqur said, the number death of Bangladesh nationals is two. There was confusion but the good news is that one person is alive.

The slain Dr. Abdus Samad was a teacher of Lincoln University. Earlier he served hid duty as a teacher at Bangladesh Agriculture University in Mymensingh.

About another slain Bangladeshi Shafiqur Rahman said that Hose Ara Farid was a house wife.

Five Bangladeshis were injured in the mosque attack incident, so far the embassy was informed. Of them condition of two is critical and one is still missing, added Shafiqur Rahman.
