Nearly two hundred onion laden trucks have been standing on Indian side of border for the last five days as Indian government suspended onion export.

Meanwhile, due to the hot spell and excessive rain those onions are being rotten. Importers think that they have to face a great loss in this situation. The businessmen demanded Indian government to allow those onions to enter in Bangladesh.

According to the retail traders of Hili market, price of onion has gone up at the moment though it decreased after the news of import. In the difference of last two days prices of onion have increased by 15 to 20 taka per kg according to the variety. Today onion is selling at 50 to 70 taka per kg. Retail sellers and general buyers are in disarray at this situation. Retail sellers allege that importers are increasing the price by forming syndicate.
