Commerce Minister Tofael Ahmed said, there is no activity of Europe and US based buyers association Accord and Alliance in the world. They need not to stay in Bangladesh. They will leave by wrapping up their activities from the country’s garments factories by January 31.

The minister declared this at a meeting on Thursday with eight organizations including Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI).

Emphasis was given in the meeting to pay salary, bonus and other allowances for the garments factory workers in due time to celebrate the coming Eid in an elegant way.

Tofael Ahmed said, salaries of May month have to be paid by June 10 and bonus should be paid before June 14. No sacking of workers before Eid will be allowed and no activity should be done so that workers discontent will happen.

The Commerce Minister said, the tenure of Accord-Alliance has expired. They are not allowed to enter in any developed country. And as a dignified country they are not welcomed in Bangladesh.

Following the incidents of death in Rana Plaza collapse and Tazrin Garments fire the European and American association Accord and Alliance signed agreement with the garments owners and Bangladesh government. They used to give different suggestions after visiting the garments factories of the country. According to this Alliance has completed their tasks and Accord will complete their work in May.
