Interpol issues red notice to arrest PK Halder
International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) has issued red notice to arrest Prashanta Kumar Halder (PK Halder) who is hiding overseas over the allegation of money laundering.
AIG (media) of Bangladesh Police Headquarters Sohel Rana confirmed that the red alert was issued on Friday.
The Interpol has issued the red notice to detain PK Halder following request from police. The notice was issued following request from National Central Bureau (NCB) of Bangladesh police. NCB is the Dhaka branch of Interpol.
Bangladesh police submitted all necessary documents and supporting elements to Interpol after following appropriate process. A special committee of Interpol approved the appeal verifying the documents. The red notice was sent to different branches of Interpol throughout the world as well as published on the Interpol central website. It will be issued for next five years. If necessary it could be extended.
In the notice allegations were brought under section 21 (1) of Anti Corruption Act 2004 of the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) and section 4(2) and 4(3) of Money Laundering Act 2012 against PK Halder.
Earlier, ACC appealed to home ministry to get Interpol assistance to bring back PK Halder who allegedly laundered nearly 3.5 thousand crore taka. Then Interpol wanted all the documents regarding the case filed by ACC.
So far according to official information, PK Halder, the architect of amassing at least 10 thousand crore taka along with his relatives racket, has laundered nearly 400 crore taka. Apart from ACC, Bangladesh Bank’s Financial Intelligence Unit is investigation against Halder and his associates.
