Expat killed during campaigning for AL in Sylhet

A Kuwait expatriate and also an Awami League supporter was killed allegedly by BNP men while distributing leaflets in favour of ruling party-backed candidate in Sylhet Sadar upazila on Thursday evening.

The deceased was identified as Koysor, son of Mahbub Ali of Nalkhot village under Kandigaon union.

Family claimed that Koysor went to the house of Tarique Ullah, a BNP supporter, in the evening for running campaign for AL candidate for the Sylhet-1.

During distributing leaflets, he engaged in altercation with some BNP men of the house and at one stage they attacked Koysor, leaving him dead on the spot.

However, villagers claimed that Koysor engaged in altercation with Tarique Ullah, Barik Ullah centring a cow that went on missing recently and being injured by the opponents, he died on the scene.

Contacted, Jalalabad Police Station officer-in-charge Shah Harunur Rashid said police are investigating the matter.
