Habiganj road crash kills 3
A bus plunging into a roadside ditch killed three people and injured six others on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Pitua in Nabiganj upazila on Thursday, reports UNB.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Bimal Chandra Bhoumik, officer-in-charge of Highway Police Camp, said the accident took place in the area around 10:30am when a Habiganj-bound bus from Sylhet fell into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving three killed on the spot and six others injured.
The injured were taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College hospital.

44 killed in devastating Bailey Road fire incident
At least 44 people, including men, women and children have been killed in a fire that broke out in a multi-storey building at Kachchi Bhai Restaurant on Bailey Road in the capital.
Health Minister Samanta Lal Sen confirmed that at least 43 people including women and children had been declared dead at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is monitoring the fire incident.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Bangladesh Police, Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun told reporters that another one victin died in the fire at Central Police Hospital, Rajarbag.
The fire service rescued 75 people alive. Of them, 45 were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in an unconscious state.
PM mourns casualties in Baily Road building fire
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the casualties in a devastating commercial building fire in the city's Baily Road area.
In a message of condolence, she prayed for peace of the departed souls and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved families, said an official release of press wing of Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister also asked the authorities concerned to take prompt measures to give proper treatment to the injured persons.
She appreciated those who were engaged in controlling the blaze quickly.

Fire breaks out at sugar factory in Chattogram
A fire broke out at a Sugar Mill in Karnaphuli upazila of Chattogram district.
The incident took place on Monday (March 4) at around 4 pm.
However, the cause of the fire could not be known immediately. The smoke had enveloped the area. A total of 12 units of fire service from three stations are working to control the fire.
Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defense Control room Officer, Kafil Uddin said that firefighters were working to control the fire.
3 dead, 30 injured in Faridpur road crash
Three dead killed as a bus overturned in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur on Friday morning (March 8). At least 30 people were injured in the incident.
The accident took place at Babnatala bus stand on the Dhaka-Barisal highway.
Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Bhanga Highway Police Station, Abu Sayeed, confirmed the matter. According to the information, fire service personnel and highway police rushed to the spot and rescued the injured and admitted them to Bhanga Hospital.
Bhanga Fire Service Station Manager Abu Jafar said the car bus of Imran Travels was going to Dhaka from Barisal. The bus lost control on the road and overturned. The injured were taken to Bhanga Hospital.
Gazipur gas cylinder blast victims in critical condition: Health Minister
Health minister Samanta Lal Sen said about 90-100 percent of the bodies of most of the victims were burnt in the gas cylinder blast in Gazipur. All of them are in critical condition.
He said this to the reporters while visiting the burnt victims admitted to the hospital on Wednesday (March 13) evening.
Five adults and seven children are undergoing treatment at the ICU of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, he added.
At least 35 people, including women and children were burnt in the incident at around 5:30 pm.
According to some sources, a cooking gas cylinder started leaking at a house in the colony. The resident of the house brought the it to the main door and threw the gas cylinder on the road, leading to the unfortunate explosion.
Fire at six-storey building near Hatirpool under control
A fire broke out at a six-storey building in the capital's Hatirpool area on Wednesday morning. Seven units of fire service worked for two and a half hours to bring the fire under control.
Assistant Director of Fire Service and Civil Defense, Anwarul Haque, confirmed the matter at 8:45 pm on Thursday (March 14).
He said, "We got information about the fire at 6:04 pm. The fire was brought under control by 8:37 p.m. The fire is not yet completely extinguished. The cause of the fire could not be ascertained. We will work on it after the fire is completely extinguished."
Eid shopping picks up in the capital
Eid shopping has started in different markets of the capital. On the 7th day of Ramadan, crowds were seen in different markets including New Market, Gausia Market, Chandni Chowk, Mouchak Market, Eastern Plaza, Fortune Market, Bailey Road on Sunday (March 17) afternoon.
Many brought their families. Eid shopping is being done in advance to avoid extra crowds. They are happy with their favorite product.
However, buyers complain that the price of clothing is comparatively high. On the other hand, the sellers are expecting good sales on Eid after seeing such a crowd of buyers at the beginning of Ramadan.
Junayat Hossain has been doing business in Mouchak Market for about eight years. He told Rtv News that business has not been good in the last few years due to various reasons including corona. Sales have been fairly good since the beginning of Ramadan.
Sohrab, a businessman of New Market, said, "This time we have picked up some different designs keeping the demand of the buyers. There is a crowd of buyers at the beginning of Ramadan. We are very hopeful about sales this time.
