8 killed after taking poisonous alcohol in Dinajpur

Two more people named Sohel Rana (32) and Mono (35) were killed after taking poisonous alcohol at Birampur in Dinajpur district. The death toll has reached to eight in this connection.

Birampur Upazila Health Officer Dr. Solaiman Hossain Mehedi confirmed the information.

He said, all the people were killed after taking alcohol like drinks. Six people died on Wednesday afternoon and in the night two more people died in the night. Total eight people died in this connection. Three more people are being treated in the hospital in critical condition.

Officer in Charge of Birampur police station Moniruzzaman said, they received medicines from local homeo doctor Abdul Mannan on the following day of the Eid day. After taking the medicines they become sick and were taken to the upazila health complex. Over the day eight people died there. Homeo doctor Abdul Mannan was detained over allegation of selling alcohol as medicine.
