Police-locals clashes in Bhola: Death toll rises to 4

The death toll has risen to 4 over the incident of clashes that took place between police and local people at Borhanuddin upazila in Bhola. Over hundred people including police force members were also injured in the incident.

Officer in Charge of Borhanuddin police station Ekramul Haque confirmed the matter.

Resident Medical Officer of Borhanuddin upazila health complex Md. Shaheen said that there were two dead bodies in his hospital.

Civil Surgeon Rathindra Nath Roy informed that two more dead bodies were taken to Bhola sadar hospital.

Meanwhile, the injured were taken to upazila health complex and Bhola sadar hospital besides some were shifted to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

It was known that a protest rally was organized as part of pre declared program at Borhanuddin High School ground at 11 am on Sunday protesting the derogatory remarks over Prophet Mohammad (SM) on facebook post. To take part in the rally several thousand people gathered there and chanted slogans demanding death penalty for the responsible person who made derogatory remarks on Prophet and Allah. At one stage police asked the mob to complete the rally soon. The two groups engaged in clashes suddenly.

Eyewitnesses said, the demonstrators hurled brick chips on police and to bring the situation under control police opened fire.

Mentionable, a youth named Biplab Chandra Shuvo from his facebook id messenger service shared derogatory remarks over Allah and Phopher Mohammad (SM). After taking screen shot of the messages some people protested the comments and thus it came to the attention of all.

Demra clothing warehouse fire under control after 9 hours

Fire service has managed to douse a fire at a cloth warehouse in the capital's Demra area after nine hours of frantic efforts. However, efforts are still underway to completely extinguish the fire. Korail Slum Fire: Slum dwellers lose everything

Many left homeless as fire breaks out at Korail slum. Hundreds of houses have been burnt in the fire. The fire broke out Sunday afternoon (March 24). Metro rail to operate after 9pm from 16 Ramadan

Dhaka Metro rail authority said metro rail will run for an additional hour from 16 Ramadan considering the passengers demand ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. With the increased operations, the last train from Motijheel will depart at 9:40pm and from Uttara at 9:20pm. However, DMTCL, has decided to stop operations of metro rail on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr. The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd (DMTCL) managing director MAN Siddique said to the reporters that they have a target to carry about 500,000 passengers a day. Metro rail will increase it's operations, metro rail will run 194 times on both sides during this time.

Metro rail schedule extended by an hour

Dhaka Metro rail authority has decided to run the metro rail even after 9 pm. The decision will be effective from Wednesday, 16th Ramadan. The last train will leave Motijheel station at 9:40 pm. He added the metro rail movement time will be extended by one hour from tomorrow (March 26) till the day before Eid-ul-Fitr. Another 10 trains will run in the extra time.

Govt to recruit 10000 primary teachers by June

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education, Rumana Ali said that the recruitment of 10,000 primary teachers will be completed by June this year. She said this while visiting Comilla Victoria Government College center in the third phase of primary teacher recruitment examination of Dhaka and Chattogram divisions.
