Paddy prices go up, says Food Minister

Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder said, market price of paddy has increased in the haats as the government procured paddy in the food granaries. Before and after the Eid paddy price has gone up by 100 to 120 taka per maund.

He said these to the newsmen while visiting the essential commodity market in Naogaon on Friday.

The minister said, price of essential commodities was stable during Eid. It is within the purchasing capacity of general buyers.

He inquired about the market prices of fish, meat and other commodities after going to the market.

Sadhan Chandra Majumder said, farmers need not to worry about paddy prices in future. The government is going to construct ultra modern paddy silos throughout the country soon. After constructing the silos paddy procurement will continue from the beginning of the season.

He also said, to ensure adulteration free and nutritious food strict surveillance of the government will continue. Everybody has come forward to maintain the pace of these activities.
