Order to deploy law enforcers at mango orchards

The High Court has delivered order to deploy law enforcement agencies at the mango orchards of Rajshahi to prevent using harmful chemicals. Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner and DIG are asked to implement the order.

As well as it was said to form an observation team to stop using chemicals at fruit markets and godowns. The court ordered IGP, BSTI and DG of RAB to implement the order and submit a report within one month.

The High Court bench comprising Justice FRM Nazmul Ahsan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader delivered the order following an appeal filed by human rights organization 'Human Rights Peace for Bangladesh' keeping ahead the upcoming season of mango.

Lawyer Manzil Murshid took part in the hearing for the appeal while Assistant Attorney General Saiful Alam stood for the state.

Manzil Murshid said, Industries Secretary, Home Secretary, Food Secretary, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Managing Director of BSTI, Director General of RAB, BSTI Director (Chemical Testing Wing), Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner, Rajshahi range DIG of police and NBR Chairman are asked to submit a report after implementing the order within one month.

Earlier on February 29, 2012 the High Court delivered order after hearing of a writ petition filed by Manzil Murshid. In that verdict 7-point direction was given. There it was said to stop using chemicals during season of mango and to form an observation team. In this continuation the lawyer sought order of the High Court after filing a supplementary appeal as new season of mango has come.
