Titu AL’s candidate for Mymensingh City Corporation election

Ekramul Haque Titu has got the nomination from Awami League for the mayor post in the forthcoming Mymensingh City Corporation (MCC) election.

The final decision about his nomination came in at a meeting of Awami League central working committee that took place on Friday at Prime Minister’s official residence at Ganabhaban in the capital.

Awami League Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua confirmed the matter.

On October 14 last year a gazette was published promoting Mymensingh municipality into City Corporation. At that time Ekramul Haque Titu was the municipal mayor. Later on October 16 he was given charge as the Administrator of MCC.

Mymensingh district is two hundred and fifty years old. Mymensingh municipality was formed in 1869. It is the 12th City Corporation of the country. The size of this City Corporation is 91.315 square kilometers. The number of voters is 3 lakh 2 thousand 109.

In the MCC election voting will take place on May 5 next. The last date of nomination papers submission is on April 8. Scrutiny on April 10 and last date of nomination withdrawal is on April 17.
