Student dies after being pushed out of running bus

An allegation has raised against a bus helper of pushing out a student of Sylhet Agricultural University of the bus which caused the demise of his life. Classmates of the student claimed this.

The incident took place at around 5 pm on Saturday on Sylhet-Mymensingh highway.

Name of the deceased is Wasim Afnan (21). He hailed from Rudra village under Debpara union of Nabiganj upazila in Habiganj district. His father's name is Abu Zahed Mahbub and mother's name is Dr. Mina Parvin.

Wasim Afnan was a fourth year student of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering department in Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU).

Eyewitnesses said, bus helper pushed Wasim out of the bus. Later the driver ran over him. Wasim's dead body was taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital. Being informed SAU students rushed to the hospital at around 7:45 pm. At that time the angry students expressed demonstration seeking punishment for the driver and helper. From there more than one hundred students rushed to the bus terminal at South Surma in the city and vandalized some vehicles.

Confirming the incident in charge of Sherpur highway police post Kamrul said, the bus was seized from Begumpur in Sylhet but the driver and helper managed to escape.
