RMG workers return to workplaces

The readymade garment workers of different factories in Gazipur and other places in Dhaka have returned to their respective workplaces after accepting the government's revised wage structure.

The workers started to join their workplaces since Tuesday morning by welcoming the announcement of the revised wage structure by the government.

During paying visits to different garment factories In Gazipur, the workers were seen entering into factories to join the work.

Talking to Rtv Online, they said that they do not want to see vandalism in garment factories anymore. Rather, they want to work safely and at the end of the month, they want to see the implementation of the new pay structure.

Meanwhile, a large number of industrial police, Gazipur Metropolitan Police and district police have been deployed in front of the factories to avoid any untoward incident.

DIG-2 Inspector Mominul Islam of Gazipur Special Branch told Rtv Online that the police personnel of GMP were deployed along with a large number of industrial police in all the factories of the district to keep the situation of the industrial factories normal to avoid any untoward incident.

No untoward incident was reported since this morning, he said, adding that peaceful situation is prevailing at all the factories.

Garment workers in Savar, Gazipur, Mirpur took to the streets in the last several days demanding an increase in their wage structure and its implementation.
