4-G service by March
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Chairman Shahjahan Mahmud has said that Fourth Generation (4-G) mobile service will be effective from later part of March.
He said this to the newsmen while describing different aspects of 4-G service on Sunday.
Shahjahan Mahmud said, 4-G spectrum auction will be held on February 13. License will be provided on February 14 and the service will be effective from later part of March.
The Appellate Division stayed the High Court order on Sunday that halted the circular regarding auctioning of 4-G spectrum and licensing. With this order the legal bar over the circular has gone. Earlier on Thursday the Chamber Judge Court stayed the High Court order.
After the Appellate Division order BTRC organized the press conference to inform the latest situation over 4-G.
Grameen Phone, Robi, Banglalink, Tele Talk and City Cell applied for the license of 4-G. Of those the activity of City Cell is stopped at present. The last date of application submission was on Sunday till 12 pm.
BTRC Chairman said, we have got application from five firms. Those are Tele Talk, City Cell, Banglalink, Grameen Phone and Robi Axiata.
Telecommunication Division got the guidelines for 4-G service license and spectrum auction on November 29 after getting final approval from the Prime Minister’s Office.
