Govt asks all to pay toll to cross Padma Bridge
The government has urged all to pay toll to cross the newly opened Padma Bridge.
"All citizens have to pay tolls, fixed by the government, for crossing the Padma Bridge. People are being asked to cross the bridge by paying tolls," the Cabinet Division said in a notification issued today.
Stoppage of all kinds of vehicles, walking and taking pictures on the Padma Bridge are completely prohibited and punishable offense, the notification said.
The Cabinet Division has asked all to remain alert in following the restrictions.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina officially inaugurated the Padma Bridge on Saturday.

Eid rush: Advance bus ticket sale begins
The sale of advance bus tickets on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr has started from today (March 22). Passengers can collect tickets from different counters in the capital.
Ramesh Chandra Ghosh, Chairman of Bangladesh Bus Truck Owners' Association, confirmed the matter on Friday (March 22).
According to Bangladesh Bus Truck Owners' Association, advance tickets will be available at all inter-district bus counters from Friday morning. At the same time, passengers can collect advance tickets online.
Ramesh Chandra Ghosh said that bus fares will be charged as per the fixed fare of BRTA. No extra fare can be charged outside the fare list. All bus owners have been instructed to do so.
Meanwhile, 'busbd.com.bd', an associate of the bus companies' online ticket sales, said in a special notice that advance bus tickets on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr will be sold online from today (March 22).
Prices of all daily commodities hike except vegetables
After 10 days of Ramadan, some relief has started to return to the market. Prices of some commodities, including vegetables, have fallen. However, the prices of essential commodities including rice, pulses, sugar are still high.
On Friday (March 22) morning, in the capital's Karwan Bazar, Hatirpool, and various kitchen markets, it was seen that in addition to vegetables, the prices of onion, garlic and eggs have fallen. The price of chicken has also decreased.
In various markets, it is found that the brinjal are being sold at Tk 60-80 per kg, which was Tk 80-100 at the beginning of Ramadan. At the beginning of Ramadan, the price of cucumber, which was above Tk 100, is now being sold at Tk 40 to 60.
Prime Minister condemns terrorist attack in Moscow
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has strongly condemned the terrorist attack that took place at Crocus City Hall in Moscow that left over 130 people dead.
In a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, PMstrongly condemned the cowardly and senseless terrorist attack on Crocus City Hall in Moscow on March 22, 2024.
"I am extremely shocked and resentful at the loss of so many innocent lives. "I am praying for the salvation of the departed souls and extending my heartfelt condolences to their families. "
Sheikh Hasina wished a early recovery of those injured in the attack.
Main Eid congregation to be held at the National Eidgah at 8:30 am
The National Eidgah Maidan in the capital is being prepared for the main Eid-ul-Fitr jamaat (congregation). The main congregation of Eid-ul-Fitr will be held at 8:30 am.
Md Abu Bakr Siddque, public relation officer of Religious Affairs Ministry confirmed this information to the media on Monday (March 25).
However, But if the weather is unfavourable, for any reason, the main congregation of Eid-ul-Fitr will be held at National Mosque Baitul Mukarram at 9 am. Besides, a total of five Eid congregations will be held at National Mosque Baitul Mukarram. The first congregation will be held at 7 am.
Abu Bakar Siddique said that the last congregation will be held at 10:45 am.
Nation set to celebrate 54th Independence Day
The whole nation is set to celebrate its' 54th Independence today (26 March) in a befitting manner.
The government has taken elaborate programmes at the national level to celebrate the day. The programmes to celebrate 54th Independence day will begin with gun salutes early in the morning.
All government, semi-government, autonomous and private institutaion will hoist the national flag atop with the rises of the sun.
However, The National Martyrs' Memorial at Savar will be the main venue of the day's celebration.
President Mohammad Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will place floral wreaths early in the morning as a mark of profound respect to the memories of the martyrs of 1971.
In that day people from all walks of life, including freedom fighters, members of the diplomatic corps, leaders of different political parties, social, cultural and professional bodies, will also place floral wreaths at the national memorial.
None can stop Bangladesh's indomitable advancement: Home Minister
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that we are a nation of heroes, we will keep our heads high. No one can stop our indomitable progress.
He made this remarkes while addressing a reception and discussion meeting of freedom fighters organized by Dhaka district administration at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Tuesday (March 26).
He said Bangladesh's independence was achieved through a series of movements. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the inspiration of a series of movements from 1952 to 1971.
"Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was a source of inspiration for all of us who took part in the war. Today, Bangladesh is transforming into a smart Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. This trend will continue in the coming days.
Saudi Arabia to invest $1.4 bn in Bangladesh's energy sector
Saudi Arabia's International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), has signed a $1.4 billion financing plan with the Government of Bangladesh.
Officials of ITFC and Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC), the state-owned fuel oil import and marketing authority, were present at the signing ceremony.
According to ITFC, the plan will enable the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) to import petroleum products. The ITFC also said the financing aimed at developing Bangladesh's energy infrastructure to develop the country.
Meanwhile, The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said that this money will be invested in various sectors related to the development of the energy sector of Bangladesh.The signing ceremony took place during a official visit by a high-level delegation from Bangladesh to the ITFC headquarters.
