Covid-19: Records of death and detection in 24 hours

In the last 24 hours 164 people died after being infected with coronavirus across the country. With this figure the number of deaths due to coronavirus infections has reached at 15,229. In this period 9,964 fresh coronavirus cases were detected in the country. These are the new records of number of death and fresh infection. With this number of traced cases the number of infected people has reached at 9,54,881. The detection rate in the last 24 hours was 29.30 per cent.

The information was delivered through the regular press release of the health directorate on Monday afternoon.

Earlier, 119 people died on June 27, 104 people on June 28, 112 people on June 29 and 115 people died on June 30. Later the highest record of death (143 people) occurred on July 1. On July 2 total 132 people, on July 3 total 134 people and on July 4 total 153 people died after being infected with the deadly virus. But today the number of deaths has broken all the previous records.

The press release said, in the last 24 hours total 34,002 samples were tested including antigen tests. With this number, so far 67,57,562 tests were conducted to trace the virus. In the last 24 hours 5,186 people recovered from Covid-19. With this figure the number of recovery has surged to 8,39,082.

The lethal virus has spread across the globe and China was the country from where it originated in 2019. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis as a pandemic on March 11 last year.
