The moon of the Sawwal month of Hizri 1442 year has not been sighted in the sky of Bangladesh. As a result the holy Eid ul Fitr will be observed on Friday (May 14) across the country.

The announcement came at the meeting of national moon sighting committee held at the meeting room of Islamic Foundation in Baitul Mukarram national mosque on Wednesday evening.

Md. Faridul Haque Khan, State Minister for Religious Affairs and also president of the national moon sighting committee presided over the meeting. Other committee members including Director General of Islamic Foundation Md. Mushfiqur Rahman were present in the meeting.

After holding the meeting it was said that as the moon was not sighted in the sky of Saudi Arabia, so, Eid ul Fitr will be observed there on Thursday.

Earlier, adviser of Saudi council of senior scholars and royal court Sheikh Abdullah bin Suleiman al Maneya informed that this year 30 Ramadan will be observed in that country. He said that the date was fixed following astrological calculation. So Eid ul Fitr will be observed in Saudi Arabia on May 13.
