Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming has said that Dhaka-Beijing bilateral relation will be damaged if Bangladesh joins ‘Quad’- an alliance formed by USA, India, Australia and Japan.

He said this while participating a program virtually organized by Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) on Monday.

Ambassador Li Jiming said, China always thinks that Quad is an anti-China group. I want to say clearly that though it was told about economic proposals but there are security elements. Basically Quad was formed to oppose role of China.

He said, it will not be good for Bangladesh if it joins the four-country alliance. Because, the initiative will definitely harm the bilateral relations with China.

Earlier, on April 27 Chinese defense minister Wei Fenghe arrived in Dhaka on a one day short visit. During his visit he informed Dhaka that China considers Quad (Quadrilateral Security Dialogue) as an anti-China alliance.
