Lockdown may be extended
As the number of deaths due to coronavirus is increasing, so there is discussion about extending the complete lockdown for one more week.
It is known that a meeting has been called to review the lockdown situation on Monday and further decision will be taken there.
A highly placed source in the cabinet division said, still the infection rate is high. So the ongoing lockdown might be extended for one week. The decision might be taken in the meeting on April 19.
In this regard State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said, whether the tenure of lockdown would be extended or not that will be decided on April 19 or 20.
Meanwhile, the national technical advisory committee on Covid related matters wanted to impose 14 day strict lockdown not for seven days. The information was delivered through a statement signed by advisory committee president Professor Mohammad Shahidullah.
Last year the government announced general holiday from March 26 to check further corona infection. It was extended in different phases and ended with 66 days holiday. In this year from last March coronavirus infection is increasing.
In this situation to prevent further infection the government imposed restrictions for one week about people’s movement and plying of automobiles. Later it was extended for two more days. As the situation is not under control, so complete lockdown was imposed by sanctioning strict restrictions starting from April 14 to 21.
