Confusion goes over April 12 and 13

The first phase lockdown across the country is going to be concluded today and the stricter and all out lockdown is scheduled to begin from April 14 next. So the people were confused over 12th and 13th April. On Sunday Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has made it clear. He said that the lockdown will continue till April 13 as of the steps taken for the first phase.

The minister said this at a press briefing organized at his official residence in the capital on Sunday. He also informed that the plying of public transports on the long routes will remain stop until further direction is given.

The government imposed seven-day restrictions or lockdown starting from 6 am on April 5 as the coronavirus infection situation deteriorated in the country. The restrictions will end at 12 am on April 11.

In this regard State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said, a message is going to be delivered by Sunday. The Prime Minister has hinted about the measures for keeping people staying at home. The situation will not be much more open than the present. The situation will continue.

In this lockdown 18 directions were given by the cabinet division on April 4 in the notification. As the restrictions were implemented the staffs of government and non-government offices fell on great sufferings after not getting public transports while their way to offices or way back to home. The passengers also expressed anger. On the other hand owners and workers of shops and markets staged demonstration in different parts of the country.

The public transports were allowed to ply on the roads of city corporations areas from April 7. Later the cabinet division issued directions that shops and shopping malls can be opened from 9 am to 5 pm abiding by the health guidelines till April 13.

On April 9 at a press briefing at his official residence Obaidul Quader said that the government is considering to impose all out lock down for one week starting from April 14.

Later in the afternoon Farhad Hossain said, the government is going to impose strict lockdown to prevent coronavirus infection. The lockdown will be imposed from April 14. In this period all government and non-government offices, public transports, industrials unit and factories will remain shut.
