Daily coronavirus cases set new record; 50 deaths

Another 50 people died after being infected with coronavirus across the country in the last 24 hours. As a result the number of deaths has reached at 9,155. In this period 6,830 fresh Covid-19 cases were detected in the country which is the new record of single day count. With this number the coronavirus cases have surged to 6,24,594.

The information was delivered through a press release of the health directorate on Friday afternoon.

The release said, the number of recovered persons has reached at 5,47,411 including 2,473 persons recovered in the last 24 hours. In this period total 30,293 samples were collected. Of those 29,339 samples were tested in the authorized laboratories. So far 47,28,113 samples were tested in the country.

It said that 50 people died in the last 24 hours and of them 40 are male and 10 female. Of the total (9,155) deceased 6,887 are male and 2,268 are female.

According to the age based analysis from the 50 deceased 32 were aged over sixty years, 11 between 51-60 years, 4 between 41-50 years, 2 between 31-40 years and 1 was between 21-30 years.

In the last 24 hours the rate of traced cases against the tested samples was 23.28 per cent and the overall rate of traced cases against the tested samples was 13.21 per cent.
