Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said, to fill up the manpower crisis in Bangladesh Railway 10 to 12 thousand people will be appointed. Currently 137 stations are shut due to manpower crisis. We have taken steps to appoint 10 to 12 thousand people in railway at a time.
He said this at the inaugural program of WASH management development and learning program to construct and renovate modern public toilets adjacent to railway stations in the country. The program was held at Rail Bhaban on Thursday.
The minister said, employment notice will be published in this month. We will provide training after employment. We hope we will be able to free us from the allegation of manpower deficit within next two to three years. There is some lacking in our railway infrastructure. Security risk will remain there if all the rail tracks are not turned into double lines.
Nurul Islam Sujan said, tracks are being modernized. We are working for development of railway sector. By not expressing excuse rather work has to be done with responsibility. Environment friendly WASH services will be performed in the stations. There is an understanding between Bangladesh Railway and Water Aid in the meantime. We have taken two projects at Kamalapur station and from there this will be spread in other stations gradually.
Secretary of railway ministry Md. Selim Reza, railway Director General Dhirendra Nath Majumder, Water Aid Bangladesh Country Director Hasin Jahan among others also delivered speeches in the program.
