Educational institutions may reopen in February

The educational institutions have been announced closed till January 30 due to Covid-19 situation in the country. Concerned sources said that there is possibility of reopening the institutions in February.

Educational institutions have been closed since March 17 last year due to coronavirus situation. To cover the loss of lessons the government has been continuing teaching for the primary and higher secondary level students through Sangsad Television. In the mean time a number of radio stations including Bangladesh Betar have begun to teach the students. Besides, the universities have been continuing the classes through online.

Director General of secondary and higher education directorate Professor Syed Golam Faruk said, universities, colleges and schools can be opened by phases if the situation favors. But classes of all students will not resume. Syllabus for the SSC and HSC examinees will be completed by taking partial classes.

After getting permission from the Prime Minister our Education Minister gave direction in this regard. The DG said that direction will be given to turn the schools and colleges operational following the health guidelines to prevent coronavirus infection.

Public Relations Officer of the education ministry M A Khayer said, there is possibility to reopen the educational institutions from the next month.

Different educationists are saying that a number of countries round the globe have opened their educational institutions as corona situation turns normal. To abide by the health guidelines masks and sanitizers are managed. School authorities are regularly cleaning the places with disinfectants. Preparation should be taken to reopen the schools after controlling the corona situation.
