Khaleda Zia freed for 6 more months

BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has been freed for six more months after staying her punishment. The home ministry has received the approval file from the law ministry in this regard. Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq delivered the information to the mass media on Thursday evening.

Earlier, Begum Khaleda Zia was freed on March 25 as they family members appealed to the government for her release from prison. Her family members also appealed for her treatment in United Kingdom. But the government did not permit her to go abroad. In this time the family members of Khaleda Zia also appealed to take her abroad for treatment.

The Law Minister said, the home ministry received the application of Khaleda Zia’s release on August 25. Khaleda Zia was in jail for more than two years, since February 8, 2018.

Begum Khaleda Zia was in jail with the verdict of punishment of 17 years imprisonment under Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust graft cases.
