Launch capsize in Buriganga: Moyur-2 owner arrested

River police have arrested Mosaddek Hanif Soyad, owner of Moyur-2 launch- the prime accused in connection with Morning Bird launch capsize and incident of deaths owing to the accident.

He was arrested from Sobhanbag in the capital on Wednesday night.

River police Dhaka zone Police Super Khondoker Faridul Islam said, according to the secret information a team of the river police arrested him from an apartment house at Sobhanbag in the capital on Wednesday midnight.

Mentionable on June 29 at around 9 am a small launch named Morning Bird capsized in the river Buriganga after hit by the large launch Moyur-2. In the accident 34 passengers lost their lives, who were on board in the Morning Bird. Later a case was filed accusing six persons including Moyur-2 owner under section 280, 304 (a), 437 and 34 of the penal code.
