Alauddin Ali on life support

Noted lyricist, composer, music director and musician Alauddin Ali was given on life support at Intensive Care Center of Universal Medical College Hospital in the city’s Mohakhali at 8:30am on Friday.

An official of the private hospital said, “After adding the mechanical ventilator machine, Alauddin Ali's physical condition is somewhat stable now. But it is not worth mentioning at all. It is very risky for him for the next 24 hours.”

He was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday night as he has been suffering from lung infection, said family sources.

Alauddin has produced numerous songs in Bengali songs, especially Bengali films. He earned name and fame as a musician, music director, violinist and lyricist, and bagged the National Film Award by writing the song.

He was born on December 24, 1952 in Bansbari village of Tongibari thana of Bikrampur in Munshiganj. His father is Ustad Jadav Ali and mother is Zohura Khatun.

In 1968, he launched his career as musician in film industry. Initially, he worked with noted musician Shahid Altaf Mahmud and then worked with another renowned musician Anwar Parvez for a long time.

Alauddin Ali's own style of fusion of folk and classical songs has become a distinct form of Bengali music for nearly four decades. Many prominent artistes from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, have enriched themselves by singing in his tone.
