Notification on banning Jamaat-Shibir
The government banned the politics of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student organization Islami Chhatrashibir in an executive order.
This information is known from the notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday (August 1) afternoon.
It is known that Jamaat-e-Islami, Chhatra Shibir, and their other organizations have been banned as per Section 18(1) of the Anti-Terrorism Act by the government's executive order. Earlier, the law ministry sent a file to the home ministry with a legal opinion on the ban.
Earlier on last Monday evening, in the meeting of 14 parties with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganabhaban, it was unanimously decided to ban Jamaat-Shibir.
The issue of banning Jamaat-Shibir also came up in a meeting with seven ministers, four secretaries and top officials of law and order enforcement in the meeting room of the Ministry of Home Affairs at the secretariat on Tuesday evening. With this, Jamaat Islam was banned for the second time. The party, which earlier opposed the independence of Bangladesh, was banned in 1972 for 'abuse of religion for political purposes'. And this time the group was banned considering the threat to public safety.
