GDP Growth hits 7.28 percent

In the final calculation of fiscal year 2016-17 the Gross Domestic Product-GDP growth stood at 7.28 percent whereas the inflation stood at 6.04 percent.

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said this on Tuesday after holding ECNEC meeting at the NEC conference room at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital.

He said, in the primary calculation the GDP growth for 2016-17 fiscal year was estimated at 7.24 percent but it crossed the rate in the final calculation.

He also said, in this fiscal year the per capita income has stood at 1610 US dollars which was 1602 dollars in the primary calculation.

The Planning Minister said, 10 projects including construction of Sheikh Hasina Shenanibash in Barisal were approved in Tuesday’s ECNEC meeting.

The total expenditure of these new and revised projects worth taka 3 thousand 3 hundred 18 crore 39 lakh will be from government financing and taka 15 crore 27 lakh will be from organizations’ own fund.

Of the projects the expenditure for Sheikh Hasina shenanibash was estimated at One thousand six hundred 99 crore taka and the total cost will come from government financing.
